STOCKTON SINCE 1994 · SAME-DAY APPOINTMENTS

Shoulder pain after a car accident? Stockton chiropractic care since 1994.

Shoulder pain after a crash often involves the rotator cuff, the AC joint and the neck working together. We examine all three and design a focused care plan.
UNDERSTANDING THE INJURY

What is Post-accident shoulder pain?

The seatbelt, steering wheel and bracing reflex can strain the rotator cuff, sprain the acromioclavicular joint, or irritate the cervical nerve roots that feed the shoulder. Many patients have pain that is part shoulder and part neck, which is why a careful exam matters.

COMMON SYMPTOMS

What you may be feeling

Sharp shoulder pain

Sudden catches with certain movements, especially overhead.

Limited range of motion

Hard to reach behind your back or lift the arm.

Weakness

Lifting a coffee cup or grocery bag feels harder than it should.

Night pain

Pain that wakes you up when you roll onto the side.

Neck-shoulder ache

Pain across the top of the shoulder into the neck.

Numbness in arm

Pins-and-needles in the arm or hand from nerve involvement.
OUR APPROACH

How we treat post-accident shoulder pain

We do a focused orthopedic exam of the shoulder, the AC joint and the cervical spine, plus on-site digital X-rays when needed. Care may include chiropractic adjustments of the neck and upper back, gentle mobilization of the shoulder, soft-tissue work for the rotator cuff and a simple home program. We refer for MRI or orthopedic consult when the exam suggests a structural tear.
