Shoulder pain after a car accident? Stockton chiropractic care since 1994.
What is Post-accident shoulder pain?
The seatbelt, steering wheel and bracing reflex can strain the rotator cuff, sprain the acromioclavicular joint, or irritate the cervical nerve roots that feed the shoulder. Many patients have pain that is part shoulder and part neck, which is why a careful exam matters.
What you may be feeling
Sharp shoulder pain
Limited range of motion
Weakness
Night pain
Neck-shoulder ache
Numbness in arm
How we treat post-accident shoulder pain
We do a focused orthopedic exam of the shoulder, the AC joint and the cervical spine, plus on-site digital X-rays when needed. Care may include chiropractic adjustments of the neck and upper back, gentle mobilization of the shoulder, soft-tissue work for the rotator cuff and a simple home program. We refer for MRI or orthopedic consult when the exam suggests a structural tear.
