Herniated disc pain? Stockton chiropractic care since 1994.
What is Herniated disc?
A spinal disc is a tough outer ring with a softer center. When the outer fibers tear from trauma or wear, the center can push outward and press on nearby nerves. Auto accidents, falls and heavy lifting are common triggers. The result is sharp local pain plus radiating pain, numbness or weakness in the arm or leg.
What you may be feeling
Radiating pain
Numbness or tingling
Muscle weakness
Back or neck pain
Worse with sitting
Pain with coughing
How we treat herniated disc
We start with a thorough neurologic and orthopedic exam, on-site digital X-rays, and review of any imaging you already have. Care may include specific chiropractic adjustments, flexion-distraction (gentle disc decompression), soft-tissue therapy, postural correction and a simple home program. Most disc patients improve with conservative care. If imaging or red flags suggest you need a surgical opinion, we say so and refer.
